So... I got hitched!

  • Oct. 15th, 2007 at 9:02 PM
We did it! :o)

It's all done and finished and official, and everything!

I'm someboady's wife!!

And now, a couple of days later, and the boy and I keep looking at each other and going...
hmmm... that's it?

lol... It's funny... it was a great party, and it was all very emotional, and wonderful, and lovely... but it was also a little anti-climactic...  I guess it would be different if we hadn't already been together for five and a half years, and had we not been living together for two and a half of those years... It's actually kind of nice, because it shows that in our hearts, and the way we are together, we already thought of ourselves as permanently bound to each other, and completely committed... it's just that now we have some shiny rings and some paper (and lots of pretty pictures) to prove it!

Everything turned out pretty fabulous, I must note... other than it being only about  eight degrees outside, and deciding to move the ceremony inside at the last minute, everything was perfect.

The room turned out beautifully... the favours and the decor went over really well... the food was delicious... the staff were great... everything was great!

My dad was so cute... he welled up when he walked me in... and he sounded like he was going to crack when he said his line about me having his, and all my families' blessings... and he barely got through his speech... and the way he was looking at me during our dance... I had a really hard time not crying!!  lol

And Eric... that boy!  I don't think I'll ever forget the look on his face while we were saying our vows... (even though he did mess up and start reading mine first!!  lol)  He looked so good in his tux, and in his Barong... it was so much fun, rolling around the grounds in a golf cart with him for our pictures... and dancing with him... and seeing him so happy!

It was all wonderful... I don't think it could have gone any better... really!
And I got so many compliments, I'm surprised my head didn't swell!  There were quite a few people who told me that it was the best wedding they had ever been to... from how beautiful, and meaningful the ceremony was, down to how much fun they were having...  That made me so happy!  I'm so glad that everyone really seemed to have a good time!!

It's funny... I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself now, with nothing to plan... I was making cracks at the wedding about starting to plan our first anniversary party soon... ;o)

It's the final countdown...

  • Oct. 11th, 2007 at 11:38 PM
We're at less than 48 hours to go! This week has been quite busy, and quite stressful at times... I definitely pull my share of late-night wedding prep extravaganzas... between carving pumpkins and wiring and wrapping flowers for bouquets, to tying ribbons on programs and place cards, I have developed the claw!!

I can barely open my right hand... I think I'm going to go soak it in some nice hot water now...

*groan*

Anyway... here are some of the fruits of my labour:

Introducing...

  • Jul. 8th, 2007 at 10:56 PM
Trevor!!!

We adopted a pug, who we have named (or changed his name to, rather) Trevor. He is 4 years old... and he is fabulous! This is his smiley face on the way home from Michigan.

Done, and done!

I am finally done with the bonbonieres! I have wrapped, ribboned, and tagged my last little box of m&ms!

That's one more thing done off the wedding checklist... very exciting!

I think they turned out quite well:

Sooo tired... so tired.

Dad & Care-n's wedding was yesterday... in Niagara Falls... I feel so badly for the boy... so much driving... we really should've taken 2 days off work and just spent the night in the falls instead of driving there and back in the same day/night...

this week, like the last few is seriously kicking our asses... but what can ya do? right? right.

So I took a million pictures for them and I am going to blow some of them up and make a nice album... hopefully they'll like it...

It was an interesting ceremony... to say the least...

but anyways, here's my favourite picture that I took... hehe... Grams and Eric are classic... doing their best law order poses... gotta love that sepia tone...

Enjoy!

Sadness....

  • Nov. 5th, 2006 at 7:49 PM
So I'm fairly certain that my little Fredo Rattington has some sort of tumor... he has suddenly become very skinny over the past few days, and I can feel a large lump near his rear left hip... and he's not eating... and he just sits in his hammock all day... curled up...

He's been breathing rather sharply today... I don't think it will be much longer... I am wondering if I should take him to the vet... if it would be more humane to have him euthanized than to let him fade like this... I don't know if the vet will even perform such a procedure on a rat... The average lifespan of a rat is 2 - 3 years... and Fredo is about 2 (assuming that he was 10 weeks old when I got him and his brother, Jimmy, as I was told)

My poor Fredo...

Fredo is the one on top here, with Jimmy, in their Chube...

Baaahahaha!

So the heat has let up somewhat due to the thunderstorms last night... I fell asleep in the cool air, curled up next to the boy... he was watching one of his silly cartoon movies... it was nice...

I was in a much better mood once I took that second shower yesterday afternoon... the shower still smelled of Irish Spring from Eric... and just as I got in and turned the cool water on, it started getting all grey and windy outside... I love that we have a window right in the shower now... I love watching the tops of the trees in the courtyard while I get clean...

It started to rain very heavily and thunder, and with the cool shower, I got very happy...

We ordered pizzas for dinner and watched tv and relaxed... quite lovely...

So it's a little cooler today, and as such the creatures are moving around more today... they're still staying low to the ground, and Molly is standing guard at the basement door... Dusty is sleeping, sprawled across the shoes by the back door...

Busy is hilarious! I went to get a drink from the fridge a little while ago, and she sniffed the cool air coming from the fridge and decided to hop right in!!

What a smart kitty!!!

lol... I love it... now if only I could fit in the fridge... take a nap right on top of the leftover pizza... use a block of cheese as a pillow...

*relaxed sigh*

The object of Eric's nightmares...

  • Jul. 30th, 2006 at 8:58 PM
Eric has an irrational fear of windmills... he can't explain it.. I can't explain it... no one can explain it...

He hates driving downtown, past that one single windmill by the Gardiner... so when we discovered this new develoment just outside of Shelbourne, on the way up north to visit my dad, Eric could barely drive by...

I made him stop so I could take some pictures this time... it doesn't really get the whole effect across though... there are literally hundreds of them, in rows and rows, as far as you can see, for about a 2 km stretch on hwy 10 north...

Very interesting...

Most of all, I'm happy that our country is investing in more reknewable resources for energy...

fabulous!

This is Wrinkles... She was a part of my life since I was 9 years old... She was really special... She had a wonderful light in her eyes and a bounce in her step that would always make me smile... She cried with me when I cried... She protected me from the bad ones...

I took this picture a little more than a week before she died... she was very ill... I hadn't made the trip to see her often enough in the 5 years since I moved out and away... and now I miss her very, very much...

You were always a "good girl"... sleep well sweet girl...

This is dusty looking less than impressed about his new haircut... lol

Poor kitty!

It's for his own good though... now ouor little persion "lion" will be cooler this summer, and those knots on his belly that he wouldn't let us brush out are gone...

The three most bad-ass kitties on Earth...

I thought I might share some pics of my babies...

Shadow(Age 3) - We've had her since she was 8 weeks old. We adopted her from a classmate of Eric's when he was in 4th year at UWO... she was the only black kitty in a whole litter of calicos. In this picture she'd sunbathing between the back of the sofa and the patio doors. She's a diva, as you can clearly see:

And this is Molly (Age 4) - We adopted her last April or May (2004) from a rescue organization. She's a chunky lady, but we're working on that still... she's certainly the most talkative, affectionate and personable of the three and is always looking for attention... In this picture she's sitting on one of the shelves of the cat tree, making her grunty little meow that she makes when she wants attention...

And last but not least, this is Dusty (Age 8 or so...) We just adopted him in July from the THS, and he's been a funny little addition. He's had his ups and downs, but he's got such a great character and has settled in very well. He generally spends his days wrestling with Shadow. In this picture he's hanging out on top of the kitchen cabinets... that's the same expression he always has on his squishy little persian face :o)
